Fire & Life Safety System Design in Leicester
Every effective fire safety installation starts with a proper design — the detailed specification telling installers exactly what goes where, what standard it meets, and how it ties into the rest of the building’s life safety infrastructure. Skip this stage, and you either end up with an over-specced system you’ve paid too much for, or an under-specced one that fails its commissioning certificate.
Bryants Fire provides fire and life safety system design services across Leicester and Leicestershire, producing detailed design documentation for fire alarm, emergency lighting, nurse call, and access control systems — either as part of a full design-and-build package, or as a standalone consultancy output for main contractors, architects, and M&E consultants working on Midlands projects.

What a System Design Actually Includes
A proper system design goes well beyond “put detectors here.” For a fire alarm system designed to BS 5839-1, we produce a category statement (L1, L2, L3, L4, L5, M, P1, or P2 — each defining the extent of coverage and the trigger for that category), detector and call point location drawings, cause-and-effect matrices spelling out exactly what happens on activation of each device, cable specification, and a signed design certificate once the design is approved.
For emergency lighting under BS 5266-1, we provide lux-level calculations along escape routes and in open areas, fitting schedules, and a design that meets the specific disabled refuge, lift lobby, and final exit requirements that are often missed on smaller projects.
Where projects involve multiple disciplines — fire alarm interfacing with access control, voice alarm integration, or smoke control — we produce an integrated cause-and-effect document covering the whole life safety system, so every contractor on site knows exactly how their part connects to everyone else’s.
