Emergency Lighting in Leicester & Leicestershire

When the mains supply fails, emergency lighting is what stops a panicked evacuation turning into a serious incident. For any non-domestic premises in Leicestershire, the law is clear: under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and BS 5266-1 (the British Standard for the design, installation and maintenance of emergency lighting), you must provide adequate illumination along escape routes, at changes in direction, and at fire safety equipment locations.

That includes maintained systems (where the emergency fitting stays lit continuously and switches to its internal battery on mains failure), non-maintained systems (which only illuminate during a power cut), and self-test LED systems that automatically run their own function and duration checks and flag any faults via a status LED.
Every installation is designed from a proper lighting plan — we don’t simply replace like-for-like. Stairwells, corridors, open areas over 60m², disabled refuges, and final exits all carry specific lux requirements under BS 5266, and getting coverage right first time is cheaper than doing it twice.
